DEMs INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS

Christians have been put in a global community with other Christians where everybody depends on each other, as one part of the body depends on the others.

Every one has something important to give and share with others, and every one may get richer by receiving something from others.

When Danish Evangelical Mission works with the small corner of the huge mission task that has been entrusted us, we do so in close cooperation with independent churches and other partners in Africa - and hopefully soon also in other parts of the world through Jobmission.

Partners in Ethiopia

Kotobe Mekane Yesus congregation, Etiopia.

DEM's primary partner in Ethiopia is The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus.

The first DEM missionaries were sent to Ethiopia in 1948. When the Mekane Yesus Church was established in 1959, it became a natural partner, and DEM has supported the church financially and by missionaries since then. Apart from 1977-1980 when the Marxist regime made it impossible to have Danish missionaries in Ethiopia.

Our other partners in Ethiopia are:

Partner in Liberia

The good Shepherd Lutheran congregation, Liberia.

In Liberia, DEMs partner is The Lutheran Church in Liberia.

DEM's cooperation with the church in Liberia started in 1980, in which year the first DEM missionaries were also sent to Liberia. Since then, DEM has supported the churh financially and with missionaries. For a period during the civil war in Liberia, however, it was not possible to have Danish personnel serving long-term in the country.

Partner in Botswana

DEM's partner is The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Botswana.

DEM entered and agreement of cooperation with the church in Botswana in 1984 and has since then supported the church financially, from 1989 also with missionaries sent by DEM. With effect on Janary 1st, 2006, however, DEM stopped all support to the church in Botswana, primarily due to DEM's own financial situation, but also for theological reasons.

Jobmission

Jobmission supports harassed churches in countries with few Christians through Danes in secular jobs or studying abroad.

DEM is one of three Danish organisations behind Jobmission, the aim of which is to give people all over the world the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ - and a fair chance to meet Christians living with their faith as an integrated part of their lives.
